Things to think about…
I don't care what ARMC does that is fair and just. They talk as though they have as much or as many rights as the Vatican. I don't think anyone or no organization should have that much power. The general public is helping foot the cost.
ARMC has overstepped what the forefathers or leaders intended for them to do. The hospital had the Athens Clarke County Commission approve the 49 million dollar bond issue. ARMC is investing millions of dollars on "their campus" and still expect to be tax free. Bull.
A few more things to think about…
Why is ARMC doing the construction for doctors' offices? How many square feet/stories will it take to serve outpatients? Who is buying doctors' practices?
A house in the neighborhood is typically taxed $1,000 annually. When one house is empty for 15 years, Athens has lost $15,000. ARMC owns dozens of houses in the neighborhood. Why aren't they paying taxes on these houses?
Open your eyes and see what is going on. ARMC spent 10 million in one year. If they aren't making money where do they get 10 million dollars from?
If you want to stir up a hornet's nest or see fur fly, bring some of this up with ARMC and the legislature. When the leaders of our state gave the hospital tax exemption status the hospital was an institution struggling to keep alive and on its feet with little funding. Since then it has become a multimillion dollar organization.
The people think it is time for change. Why should a person making a few cents over wage & hour, help keep a multimillion dollar organization up. Lets get new leaders that can (or will) handle that amount of money more efficiently.
Why should Athens furnish a hospital for all of Northeast Georgia?
